With more Supercross and Motocross championships than any other manufacturer, the KX name is synonymous with winning. The KX250 motorcycle is the championship-proven machine built so you can ‘Be Next’. Be the next champion. Be the next hero. Be the next legend. Be the next trailblazer for an entire generation of greatness. On the KX250, your time is now.
Championship-proven Performance
The KX250’s engine has long been one if its greatest strengths. Finger-follower valve actuation, dual injectors, downdraft-style intake, and other race-inspired performance features are complemented by electric start and a hydraulic clutch. Further engine updates for 2023 deliver stronger performance across the rev-range, translating to quicker lap times and better holeshot performance.
Increased Performance Across the Rev-Range
Narrower pitch and smaller size for the intake valves deliver increased cylinder-filling efficiency and improved combustion for increased peak performance. The downdraft-style intake duct is straighter, and the upstream injector is repositioned from above to below the duct, further contributing to peak performance. A longer header pipe offers increased low-mid range torque. Based on AMA Supercross racing feedback, a longer 1st gear makes it easier to use in a greater number of situations.
Reliable Starting
Being able to restart an engine quickly during a race can mean the difference between keeping your lead, or having to fight your way back through the pack. Electric start makes restarting the engine as easy as pushing a button.
Light & Responsive
A hydraulic clutch offers direct feel and light lever action. Less play as the clutch heats up during heavy use results in more consistent feeling. The use of coned-disc springs contributes to lighter clutch actuation when the lever has been pulled in, and a wider clutch engagement range, which facilitates control (especially when half-clutching). New material for the clutch pushrod (now an aluminium shaft with a steel cap) results in lighter clutch operation.
Easy Engine Tuning
Lightweight and designed for the rigours of off-road riding, the ECU contains multiple programmable engine maps to offer riders an advantage on the race course. Using the provided DFI couplers, riders are able to easily switch from one to another of the three engine maps to suit riding conditions. The plug-and-play style system is quick, easy and stress-free. Each of the three maps can be reprogrammed using the optional KX FI Calibration Kit.
Holeshot Advantage
Factory racer-style launch control system increases the chance of getting a good start by helping riders maximise grip when starting on a low-traction surface.
Light & Agile
The KX250’s lightweight aluminium frame and factory-inspired suspension and brake components were all designed to realise its light, agile handling. Slim, ergonomic bodywork that facilitates rider movement and control further helps riders turn quick lap times. New tyres and revised suspension settings for 2023 offer improved handling when cornering, making the KX250 an even more potent track weapon.
Lightweight Aluminium Perimeter Frame
The KX450-based frame (an evolution of the current design) and KX450 swingarm offer improved handling and increased rear wheel traction, while contributing to the KX250’s slim ergonomics.
Fine-Tuned Suspension
Front and rear suspension setting updates contribute to improved cornering. On corner entry, greater front-end feedback contributes to a more planted feel. Increased ground-holding performance makes it easier to hold a chosen line through the corner. After exiting the corner, revised rear suspension settings contribute to stronger acceleration.
Strong Stopping Power
Oversized semi-floating o270 mm front disc contributes to strong front brake force, as well as superb controllability. The KX450-type front master cylinder adds to the high level of control and overall feedback from front brake.
New Tyre Pattern and Wider Rear Tyre
Dunlop MX33 tyres offer increased traction to match the engine’s increased power, while a wider 110/90-19 rear tyre (previously 100/90-19) contributes to increased rear wheel traction as well as a greater planted feeling.
Slim, Ergonomic Bodywork
KX450-style bodywork features long, smooth surfaces and a flatter tank-seat line designed to facilitate rider movement and control.
Get the Perfect Fit
A choice of four handlebar positions and two footpeg positions allows riders to tailor their riding position to suit body size and preference. Factory-style o28.6 mm (1-1/8”) Renthal aluminium Fatbar helps reduce vibration and shocks transmitted to the rider, while a lower, closer grip position helps put the rider in a position that makes it easier to weight the front wheel.
Wide-Style Footpegs
Revised footpeg design is 5 mm wider (front-to-rear) and positioned 3 mm rearward, offering excellent grip, superb feel, and making it easier to weight the pegs. Aluminium brackets contribute to weight reduction.
